Don’t miss out a Jama’a (Congregational Prayer)

You watched the football game, you ate the meal for fasting, and you are so sleepy that you don’t attend the Fajr in congregation in the Masjid. Many people who fast are not really strict about the congregational prayers. Plan your Ramadan so that you don’t miss any of the Jama’a. Set an alarm to reach the Jama’a. Ask your spouse, or family members to remind you.

There are people who are very strict and punctual about the Taraweeh prayer while they miss Isha’a Jama’a, this is a grave mistake. Know that Jama’a for the five obligatory prayers is Wajib (Mandatory), while Taraweeh is only sunnah ().

Try performing optional prayers

Performing optional prayers before and after obligatory prayers helps to get ready for the prayer and solve any deficiency in the prayer respectively. Make a list of voluntary prayers, prioritize according to their virtue and reward.

Complete the Quran

Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed. Quran intercedes for people who recite it on the Day of Judgment [Sahih Muslim]. It is reported that both the Quran and Fasting will intercede [Sahih Muslim]. Jibril used visit Prophet (S) and reviewed the recitation of Quran in the month of Ramadan [Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]. It was from the manners of the salaf, that they completed reciting Quran in the month of Ramadan several times. Uthman (R) would complete whole Quran once a day, Imam Shafi’e (R) would complete it 60 times, Imam Qatadah (R) would complete every seven days. Let us, at least finish it once in the month. 21 pages a day will help you to finish, Insha Allah. Find time to read any Tafsir of Quran. You choose a chapter or some chapters and read their interpretation.

Paying the Zakath

Did you calculate the Obligatory charity? Do it today. Find someone who knows it properly. Don’t approximate an amount and round it.

Automate your Sadaqah

You might be already aware of the virtues and benefits of giving Sadaqah. You need to automate your sadqah making sure that you have a minimum balance to avoid overdraft fees. You know someone among the relatives who are poor and in need, help them. Neighbors, widows, orphans are other people you can gain rewards with. Enquire at your local Masjid or may some organization you know, they might have some Ramadan Relief program. Sadaqah, not only helps the poor, but serves as a purifier of our heart.

You don’t have money? But you can glorify and praise Allah, enjoin good and forbid evil, have sex with your spouse, then that is Sadaqah  [Sahih Muslim]

Start an Iftar Fund today

Prophet (S) said: “whoever gives a food to a fasting person with which to break his fast, will have a reward equal to his, without it detracting the slightest from the reward of the fasting person.” [Tirmidhi, Graded ‘Hasan’ by Albanee]. Include poor and the miserable in the iftar parties. Avoid iftar parties in the last ten days of the Ramadan, so that you can include those who are planning for Ihthikaf (The seclusion).

The Night Prayer

Prophet (S) said: “He who observes optional prayer (Tarawih prayers) throughout Ramadan, out of sincerity of Faith and in the hope of earning reward will have his past sins pardoned.” [Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]. The virtue is said; now let us look at the problem. You quite tired now to pray, you can’t stand all that time, you ate a lot and so on.

Have a healthy and light for breaking fast, you have the rest of the food after you come from Taraweeh. Listen to the Imam’s recitation and follow it with your mind. Find some friends who can accompany you. Moreover it is your mental power. Show that if you really want your sins to be forgiven.

Ilm Schedule

The local masjid or an organization or the some scholars might be taking some lectures during Ramadan. Schedule your time to spend time seeking knowledge. You can find lectures in youtube and other channels too. Make a habit to learn and study some topic, rather just sitting and listening.

The last ten days and the Ih’thikaf (The spiritual retreat)

Take leave from your work. Pack up whatever you need to take. The Quran, a pen and a notebook, Dua books, Islamic books and CDs, perfume. You can take Laptop, but make sure the internet is cut off, unless it serves any important purpose.

Know that Laylathul Qdar is on one of these days. You don’t wanna miss that!!!
